The great thing about living in a house that's a hundred years old, is the original wiring.
Here is our fusebox complete with loose insulation and unsheathed 240V wiring (see inset). The previous owners decided, in their infinite wisdom, that it was a good idea to put in 30 amp fuses where they should be 15 amps.
